Our evil. God's glory.

"You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good." Genesis 50:20

Sometimes horrible things happen that seem to be pointless, but God takes these things and uses them for his glory.  In the 1950s, five missionaries went into the territory of one of the most deadly tribes of the Amazon, even though it was likely they would lose their lives, because they loved these people enough to share God's love with them.  They did die at the hands of these murderous people, but what God did with their deaths was amazing and unbelievable... almost impossible.

Good thing with God, NOTHING is impossible...

Warning:  Prepare to bawls your eyes out on this one and the goodness of God.   =)

Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me

There is nothing like the oldies when it comes to love songs....  =)

*sigh*

Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me
Mel Carter

Hold me, hold me
Never let me go until you've told me, told me
What I want to know and then just hold me, hold me
Make me tell you I'm in love with you

Thrill me (thrill me), thrill me (thrill me)
Walk me down the lane where shadows will be (will be) will be (will be)
Hiding lovers just the same as we'll be, we'll be
When you make me tell you I love you

They told me "Be sensible with your new love"
"Don't be fooled, thinking this is the last you'll find"
But they never stood in the dark with you, love
When you take me in your arms and drive me slowly out of my mind

Kiss me (kiss me), kiss me (kiss me)
And when you do, I'll know that you will miss me (miss me), miss me (miss me)
If we ever say "Adieu", so kiss me, kiss me
Make me tell you I'm in love with you

Becoming a chicken...

I am not the most spontaneous, risk-taking person you'll ever meet, but I've never been much of a "'fraidy cat" when it comes to roller coasters. I'll get on (almost) anything.

Well..... Not so much anymore apparently.

I still have the hook-ups on free tickets at Magic Mountain, so my friend Jen and I decided to go this last Saturday. I hadn't been since I stopped working there 5 years ago. I hadn't been on the big rides in I don't know how long. I didn't think that my long absence from "Extreme" roller coasters would phase me, but I was wrong. So very wrong...

The first ride we went on was Tatsu. It's a newer ride that I had not been on. It's a flying roller coaster, which means that you get strapped in and then they flip you forward so that your tummy is facing the floor and you are in the flying position. Kinda cool. Yeah. Until you hit the pretzel loop (which involves "extreme postive G forces") that drops your stomach to your feet, feels like it's never going to end, and makes you think you might really die for a second there (I swear, I was this close to actually crying).

OMG.

I can't hang anymore.

I literally got off that ride feeling relieved to be alive and resolved to never do that again.

I used to make fun of my dad because when we were little he used to get on everything and he forced us to get on everything, but then a few years ago we got on the Tower of Terror at Disney's California Adventure and for the first time in my life I saw fear in my father's eyes. I thought it was hilarious. It's not.

I now know that with age comes fear. When you are young you have nothing to lose. Adrenaline is fun. Not anymore.

I'm officially old.

Memories of Magic Mountain...

I don't write about it much, but during the end of my teens and for the first third of my twenties I worked at Six Flags Magic Mountain (and for one season in between at Hurricane Harbor). Many of my still-good friends and my adopted sister, Sandy, worked with me there. That place definitely was the backdrop of much of my "fun times," and what I mean by that was that I got into a lot of trouble and made a lot of dumb, young-person mistakes during that time. =)

Oh the stories I could tell. Oh the memories: Meeting Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer at the Main Gate toll booth. Hooking the singer, Brandy, up with a free ticket for a special event. Almost getting fired for not calling the ambulance for a little girl with a seizure at the Harbor (I didn't know I was supposed to!). Being in my first (and only) love triangle with Stage Tech and a Float Driver. Decorating the park for Halloween and helping build a maze ("I told you guys I'm not THAT girly!"). And so many more...

Anyway, Vintage Disneyland Tickets obviously mostly displays old stuff from Disneyland, but it also has a few things on Magic Mountain that I thought I would share. Pretty interesting. This is awesome because it gives some history of the Santa Clarita Valley, which was then known as the Valencia Valley:

And here's a brochure from 1981, the year I was born:

Zombie masterpiece?

No, this is not a post about Zombieland, the greatest zombie movie ever (in case you are confused by my use of the word masterpiece... lol), although I could write a whole post about that. ("The Rules" alone are awesome, but the best part had to be Bill Murray's cameo!)

Anyway, my sister Katie brought home Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for me to read. I'm about 6 chapters in and I have to say I'm not sure if I like it yet. I've chuckled maybe twice. It's definitely different.

I LOVE Jane Austen (especially Pride & Prejudice) and I LOVE Zombie movies, so everyone and their momma has recommended that I read this book. So far the jury's out on whether they work together for me. I'll have to let you know.

In the meantime, here's an excerpt to get an idea of what this book entails:
"In a few days Mr. Bingley returned Mr. Bennet's visit, and sat about ten minutes with him in his library. He had entertained hopes of being admitted to a sight of the young ladies, whose beauty and fighting skill he had heard much; but he saw only the father. The ladies were somewhat more fortunate, for they had the advantage of ascertaining from an upper window that he wore a blue coat, rode a black horse, and carried a French carbine rifle upon his back--quite an exotic weapon for an Englishman. However, from his clumsy wielding of it, Elizabeth was quite certain that he had little training in musketry or any of the deadly arts."

Chick-Flicks don't help...

I need to stop watching shows and movies laced with romance. I'm starting to live vicariously through people that aren't even REAL! All it does is make me feel sorry for myself. I literally want to break down and cry because I eventually start feeling an overwhelming sense of lonliness. *sigh*

I've been streaming the first season of Roswell on Netflix. Man! They sure got intense when it came to the love (or lust?) between the two lead characters, Liz and Max. There was one whole episode where they were literally making out in every scene.

I couldn't take my eyes off of it. LOL!

Do you know how long it's been since I've kissed a guy? Over 3 years! 3 LONG YEARS!!!

Watching this mess doesn't help me. I see these kids making out and I'm literally jealous. JEALOUS! Then the pity party begins.

Lord, help me.

"Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD." Proverbs 23:17

"Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41

"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual mmorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry." Colossians 3:5

The Drive-in isn't dead...

I just read this great column on Brietbart.com where the auther relives his times at the Drive-in. It's so sad that most of the Drive-ins in Southern California are dead and gone. We used to go every weekend when I was a kid. If it wasn't the Van Nuys theater, it was the Winnetka. EVERY weekend during the summer.

THANKFULLY, some do still exist. We regularly go to the Mission Tiki Drive-in in Pomona. If you are nearby, check it out. $7 gets you a double-feature and the movies are new releases.

Anyway, we did (and do) things a little differently than others. Back in the days, we usually brought my dad's truck and loaded up with blankets. There would be 5 or 6 of us kids (my sisters and I, plus neighborhood friends) laying in the back of the truck and a couple in the front seat with Dad. Yes, we drove to the movies that way. Dangerous right? We loved it. We would make a game of trying to stay as flat as possible while trying to make sure the blankets didn't fly away.

I remember watching La Bamba and mom crying when he sang "Oh Donna," because her name is Donna. lol. I remember watching Jurrasic Park and telling my little cousin George to wake up because they were about to pass Barney on the screen. I remember watching Hocus Pocus and getting in trouble because my friend dared me to flip my sister off and I did. (Tattle-tell! lol) I remember watching The Lion King and getting angry because right when they started singing "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" the train decided to come by and last through the whole song so we couldn't hear any of it. (Is it me, or is/was every drive-in near a train track?)

Ah. Fun times! So many memories!

Now, we fill up the trunk with a ba-zillion old and new blankets and plenty of pillows. The old ones are used to make a mattress-like padding that is laid over the gravel. The new blankets we use to cover ourselves and stay warm. We lay out in the cool night air and enjoy our movie and we love it. You can talk, laugh, pass snacks around, and never bother anyone. You can't beat it.

I hope the Drive-in never completely dies because it will kill me if my kids never get to experience it...

Here's an excerpt from Mr. Nolte's ode to his drive-in days:

The price of admission wasn’t five dollars per person, it was five dollars per carload, and that admission wasn’t for one movie, it was for two and sometimes three. We would always arrive early so there would be no competition for a parking slot that no small amount of experimenting had proven to be the very best: a spot just off center but built a little higher than the others where the front wheels sat. As hours of movie-watching passed, this small advantage proved easier on the neck.

To avoid the cost of concessions there was the Styrofoam cooler, always packed with a beer or two for him, a wine cooler or two for her, and hot dogs wrapped in tinfoil that we would warm up between shows on the Riv’s mighty engine block.

In the dusk, children would take advantage of the broken-down playground that sat directly in front of the giant screen, and the sounds of their pleasure would then blend with the even sweeter sounds of tires crunching gravel, car doors slamming, and far-off adult voices and laughter all set to the tinny music that played through those deceptively heavy speakers before the show began. The sounds were timeless, and if you closed your eyes and took a moment, you could transport yourself back to when your parents were young. For all the many wonders available for only five-dollars a carload just off of Highway 145, the Starlight Drive-In was also a perfectly-kept time capsule of the year of its construction.

Before it got dark enough to justify doing so, the projectionist would always stubbornly start the first feature anyway, usually a second-run film. Still, we would all honk our horns and flash our headlights to mark the occasion. And what an occasion Hollywood delivered.

Feline, Film, Fireworks, and Flattery

Quite a weekend. Quite a weekend.

FELINE

I left work early on Thursday and headed straight to my dad's because I had a dentist appt. in Diamond Bar the next day. I get there and find Gatito on the floor in a very sad state. That's when Mom tells me that he got out the night before and when he came back that morning, he was visibly shaken and injured from fighting with the stray neighborhood cats. I lean down to check him out and he's completely rigid and not very happy about me inspecting his injuries... his numerous injuries.

He's obviously beat up, but something isn't right. I finally decide to take him to the vet. We get there and the first thing they do is take his temperature.

104 degrees!!! Yikes.

Then the doc comes in and starts pulling out chunks of hair where Gatito's been injured. Underneath that hair are deep puncture wounds already filled with puss. I got him there right on time. The doc tells me that if I had waited each one of those puncture wounds would have turned into a giant absess. Yay!

So Gatito got left at the vet to be sedated and have his wounds cleaned to avoid infection, and then he came home the next day totally high and wearing a cone. Way to go, Gatito. Hope you learned your lesson, although I sort of doubt it....

FILM

Saw Twilight: Eclipse on Saturday. Not bad. I'm not a Twilight fanatic or anything, but I do enjoy the movies. What can I say? I love a cheesy romance story.... even if it involves the undead. lol.

The thing I really like about this one was a small message it conveyed on how special it is to wait until marriage before doing "the deed." Bella wants to get it on with Edward, but he tells her that he's "old fashioned" and would rather marry her first. All the girls in the audience were like, "Awwwww." I was like, "Amen!" =)

FIREWORKS

Fourth of July was boring for me this year. Didn't go to any BBQs or other events. Katie and I just climbed up to the roof, talked about our lacking love lives, and watched the fireworks show from Hanson Dam. Meh. Nothing exciting.

FLATTERY

Speaking of my love life, while up on the roof I expressed a few frustrations to my sister about it. I just feel so lonely lately (it doesn't help that I had a dream about someone from my past that I wish would have been real). I feel like I learned so much from the last failed attempt, but haven't been given any kind of opportunity to put into action what I've learned. Plus, I can't help but feel completely horrible about myself when no one worth my time is remotely interested. I was just venting about my slight frustration toward God. (Yes, I admit it, okay! lol)

Anyway, yesterday we head to WalMart for some household items. As I'm standing in an aisle telling Tirsa a funny story, this guy, who clearly has mild cerebral palsy, but was actually pretty high functioning and not horrible looking, approaches me. He was like, "Excuse me. Excuse me."

At first I thought he was trying to get to something behind me on the shelf, so I move out of the way. Then he says, "I don't mean to be rude or anything."

I'm thinking, "what is this guy about to tell me."

He then says, "You are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."

Oh my. All I could do was smile and say Thank You. He then asked if he could give me his business card so we could hang out. I didn't want him to feel bad, so I sort of lied and said I had a boy friend, to which he replied that "he" was a lucky guy, and then he threw in a "God bless you." Cute.

I have to say that was the most flattering attempted pick-up I've ever been subjected to. I was not interested in the guy (and not because of his disability... I have a cousin with the same disability and I've never treated him any different from anyone else), but I give him a lot of props for being so bold, but not sleazy about it. It really was cute.

I really think that God used this guy to remind me that He is listening and paying attention. There are decent people out there who find me attractive and who are willing to be bold enough to let me know. There is hope for me. =)

Thanks, Lord, and please bless that guy. There is someone special out there for him too...

Ridiculous, ludicrous, preposterous, absurd….

Yes. I do enjoy my thesaurus. lol. But anyway.... Man this world is a twisted place. Observe:

I just read that Perez Hilton posted up a below-the-skirt shot of Miley Cyrus. Uh, Miley is underage you jacka**. (Please excuse my language.) That is just sick. Please don’t let anyone do that to one of Perez’ underage female family members….

Why is our president still here? This man hates the country that he leads. He is surrounded by shady people who also hate this country. He has dropped the ball time and time again since day one of his presidency (oil spill anyone?). I cannot wait for this term to be over so we can get someone in there who actually has even an ounce of experience and knows what he’s doing. Like I heard someone say this morning on the radio: His only job skill is reading Teleprompters.” Yippee! *sigh*

I read yesterday that the NAACP is seriously angry with Hallmark because in a SPACE-THEMED talking card, the characters refer to a graduate conquering black holes in space. They are seriously saying that it sounds like it’s saying “black hos.” Really? REALLY? Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time someone has complained that the SCIENTIFIC term Black Hole is racist. A couple years ago a Dallas County Official also tried to say that it’s racist. SERIOUSLY? Are we really that racially sensitive? Get over yourselves, people. Next thing you know, National Council of La Raza is going to be royally pissed off that they named one of the most deadly and feared spiders a “Brown Recluse.” Ay ay ay

The other day I set some people off when I said that Depression is a sin (I’ve also written a blog post in the past explaining why). They all jumped onto the whole Depression-is-a-Mental/Physical-Disorder bandwagon. Yes, and so, they say, is Kleptomania…. It still doesn’t mean that stealing is okay. Sorry! The moment we started making up disorders for every kind of sin, was the same moment we stopped being accountable for anything we do…

LOST treasure...

Oh man! I wish I would have known about LOST's Jorge Garcia's blog, Dispatches from the Island. I would have been following from Day 1. Now it's all over. Oh well. I'm SO gonna go back and read every entry regardless.

P.S. Poor guy just lost his dog, Nunu. What a terrible way to end his time in Hawaii.... Sad day. Read more about that here.

LOST...

Lost is seriously one of my all-time favorite shows, if not my most favorite of all time.

I have watched it since day one. From the moment I watched the chilling sequences of Oceanic Flight 815 break apart and land on "the island" and of dozens of maimed, injured, and dead on the beach next to strewn about fuselage--looking so darn realistic and creepy--I've been hooked.

I've grown attached to all the characters. I cried when Charlie died. I cried a few weeks ago when Sayid, Jin, and Sun died... actually I bawled my eyes out on that one. I'm SO gonna cry this Sunday on the 2 1/2-hour Series Finale. I think this one's gonna get me worse than Dawson's Creek ending. I'm just not ready to say goodbye...

But I am ready for some solid, concrete answers. lol. Don't do me dirty, Lost. Please leave me with adequate closure...

Spilling Beans, Salsa Dancing, and Sickness

So the day after the whole David's Bridal debacle, Sandy came to Kim's house for breakfast. She told us the whole story about how these would-be robbers were foiled. Apparently, Sandy's co-worker had a gut feeling that something wasn't right and just minutes before these guys tried to commit their robbery she walked over to the door and locked up. So when they decided to come through the front door they couldn't get in. They saw Sandy and her co-worker both on the phone and probably thought they were calling the cops, so they took off.

Thank you, Lord, for keeping my sister safe!!! Hallelujah!

Sandy was shaken up, but thankfully that was all. She was spared the horrifying experience of being held up in a robbery. We know that these guys had guns and have used guns in their past robberies. Yes, past. As in they had already hit many branches of the check-cashing company that Sandy works for. Nice.

Anyway, after telling us her story she then got into how she is ready to get married already. Kim and I looked at each other and with just that look decided to spill the beans. We confessed to Sandy what our plans were for the night before.... before those idiot criminals foiled our plans. Sandy broke down crying. Partly because she didn't get to go to David's Bridal and partly because she was touched at our surprise. Immediately following the tears though was utter excitement.

Wedding plans have officially commenced....

That same night, Kim and I went out Salsa Dancing. What a joke (lol!). We got to Mama Juana's a little late, so the Salsa lessons were wrapping up. That didn't stop the instructor from throwing us in with the rest of the learners. Unfortunately, they were past the basics, so just when we were trying to learn the basic moves, they started throwing in the fancy stuff, including turns. I tried. And then I tried. And then I tried some more. I totally failed though. So after a while I quit. Yeah, I'm a quitter. Oh well. The guy even called me out on it, but I didn't care. When I know I can't do something well, I just don't do it. It's the perfectionist in me. Sorry!

Once the lesson was over, it got really fun. We mostly sat there and watched everyone else dance, but they were so good! That was enough entertainment right there. I felt like I was watching Dirty Dancing. And the Asians!!! My goodness, the Asians were REALLY good. I was shocked. They are not joking when it comes to Salsa Dancing. Hahaha!

They occasionally played some Merengue and Cumbias, so were were able to get out and take turns dancing with Jorge, Kim's friend from work. So we didn't sit on our butts the whole time. Kim and I caught the bug though... we both really want to take some lessons. We're supposed to be "latinas." We have no excuse for not knowing this stuff.... especially since our father is like a world-class dancer. Guess we should have swallowed our embarrassment when we were younger and let our Dad drag us out onto the dance floor more often. Too late now...

By the time Sunday rolled around, I wasn't feeling too hot, but we ended up having a BBQ at the house. It was laid back and fun, but by the end of it, I knew I was full-blown sick. I had a horrible headache and went to bed early. By the next morning it was worse, but I thought I could make it in to work. WRONG.

I was almost to work from the Valley, when I decided it wasn't a good idea. I called work and told them I was sick and wouldn't be in and continued on to my current home in Pomona. I literally got home, kicked off my shoes, and crawled into bed... with my work clothes on and everything. When I woke up a few hours later, Mom was home. We both lounged on the couches the rest of the day (me, mostly sleeping) and she was nice enough to make me some lunch.

I ended up staying home the next day also (yesterday) and finally decided that I NEEDED to come in to work today. I wish I could have stayed home because I'm still not doing too good, but "you gotta do what you gotta do." If I didn't come to work today I wouldn't have enough time on the books to take off the whole week I will need next month to move.

*sigh* Growing up.... Responsibilities.... Life.... No fun sometimes....

Ups and downs...

This weekend was interesting. I was very busy--I literally saw three movies over the three days this weekend:

Friday: Saw The Princess and the Frog at Walt Disney Studios. Experience was cool, but the movie itself wasn't up to par for Disney in my opinion. It wasn't horrible, but wasn't their best either.

Saturday: Saw New Moon. I have never read the books and I'm not a teeny bopper who is obsessed with either of the young male actors from the movies, but after seeing this movie (and I never in a million years would have ever thought I was going to say this) I have to say I am on Team Jacob. The girl does him dirty... you can't help but root for the guy. (You have to see the movie to know what I'm talking about.)

Sunday: Saw Precious. Talk about a depressing movie. The acting was excellant, but I can't help wanting a HAPPY ending. The girl is triumphant at the end, but you still walk away feeling like it wasn't a very uplifting story. The even worse part is that you know this type of abuse and horrible circumstances is not unheard of in this world (my own adopted sister went through some of this stuff). So sad.

Aside from all the movie watching, I got to hang out with my friend Mike and I got to see both of my nieces. That was cool, but the weekend wasn't totally great.

I ended up having a conversation with my dad, which involved me telling him that sometimes I feel like he doesn't care all that much about my life and what happens to me, and specifically about helping me to marry well. I felt like he wasn't doing enough to make this thing with Francisco happen. Of course, as he does when he feels upset or guilty, he got mad at ME and acted like I want him to do everything for me. I don't want him to do everything for me at all. I just wanted him to do what was in his power to get this thing started so that God and I could handle the rest.

I don't know. I guess we are just on two different pages on what is biblically correct when it comes to parental involvement and how much there should be.

Anyway..... Yesterday, my dad sends me a text message:

"Francisco wants to see you next Saturday. Today is his father's birthday."

Well, I guess he did feel guilty because he had turned around and went through his friend Anthony to get ahold of Francisco. Anthony was going to have some people over to eat Paella at his house, so my dad asked him to invite Francisco. He couldn't make it because of his father's birthday, but they set up a movie night at Anthony's house the following weekend so that we could see each other. (I'm assuming they told him that I wanted to see him... I'll find out more later.)

So, now it's set up and I'm excited, but of course I feel bad that I practically had to twist my dad's arm to get him to do something. I plan on apologizing to my dad soon. I know he cares about me, but I don't want him to think that I think he doesn't care about me at all, whatsoever. I want him to know that I felt bad about our conversation before he ever sent me that text message.

Well, I guess it's time to start getting more happy about this situation. God has once again shown me that He is looking out for me. So, why do I feel all guilty now like I pushed everyone into something? *sigh*

Stop it, self! I'm sure things will start to look up very soon...

God put a smile upon my face....

As promised, here are some pics from the Coldplay show I went to on Saturday night. It, of course, was AMAZING. Those boys NEVER fail to put on a great, energetic, crowd-pleasing show... and with a lot of humility. I don't know if it's an act, but they sure do come off as extremely gracious. They seem to really recognize their fans and that they would not be where they are without us (well and God too, but not sure if they realize that part.)

Kim and me right before the show started:
Our view from the FRONT, baby!

Chris and the boys doing Yellow.

There was a ramp like 4 feet away from that they would run down and at one point they performed at the end of the ramp.

Chris at the piano. He's so good. =)
Chris, saying goodbye. Yes. We were THIS close.

So, yeah. Except for a few annoying people, it was fun times. We thought we were going to be in the 7th row, but we ended up being in General Admission. We didn't have seats and had to stand, but it was fine because we were able to get close to the stage. It was pretty darn awesome!!!! The best part though... I mean the BEST part... was when they did a cover of Michael Jackson's Billy Jean. So good!
Can't wait til the next album! Can't wait til the next concert!!!

Jude 1:16

"These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage."

This passage just reminded me of every politiician (mostly liberal) and celebrity (also mostly liberal) out there right now.

They grumble the loudest about the things they hate. They are able to because they get most of the air-time on TV (anyone watch the Oscars?). They find fault in everyone, but see none in themselves. "Christians are just a bunch of hateful homophobes." As the acting world celebrated him for his role as a murdered gay activist, Sean Penn used his time up there to pat himself on the back and scolded all of us who voted yes on Prop. 8. Yet, why isn't Sean bashing Obama, even though he told Rich Warren not even a year ago that because of his faith, he doesn't agree with same-sex marriage? Oh no, we can't talk crap about a fellow Dem., especially when he's our Messiah, here to bring salvation through Socialism.

Following after his own lusts, Clinton had a great time with Monica Lewinski in the oval office. I won't even get into Eliot Spitzer, who was supposed to be cracking down on prostitution, not facilitating it. But the rest of us are all dilussional, intolerant idiots who want to teach our kids abstinence. How could we?

"They speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage." Well, that just sounds like Obama in a nutshell. His whole campaign floated along on flattering words like "hope" and "change." He didn't even have to define what kind of hope or what kind of change. It was just enough that he used those special, revolutionary words. They just make you feel all warm and gooey inside. And now he's gained the advantage with those flattering words and they are already saying that he's pretty arrogant about it: I won. Deal with it.

So what does the Bible say is going to happen to these people. Two verses earlier, it says this:

"And about these also Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, 'Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, to execute judgement upon all, and to convict all the ungoldy of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him." (Jude 1:14 & 15)

I can't wait, Lord. You are gonna make them eat their words. Until then, hopefully some will open up their eyes and turn away from their ungodly lives while they still can.

Viva la Vida

Saw Coldplay last week in Vegas with Katie, Sandy, and Tirsa.

One word: AMAZING!

Like you didn't know that? If you didn't, well, your sad. Coldplay is the greatest band of my time. My children will say, "Mom, I wish I was young when Coldplay was at their greatest." Wait, whose to say they won't get even better and better by the time my kids are grown. =) That's fine with me. Keep 'em coming, boys...

So yeah, I'm pretty sure that I have not gotten any of the positions I've applied for. Sad day. I'm trying not to be to down about it because I did tell God to only give me these positions if I deserved it and if it was His will. Apparently, neither was the truth. Guess I have to accept it and try to make the best of what I do have. I just wanted that extra money. =( I did find a Staff Assistant position that I think I qualify for, so I sent in the application today. (This is what I do when I'm working "overtime" on a Friday. lol...)

Sandy and Juan just signed up for a debt management program. I want to see how it goes for them, and then I think I will do the same. I really gotta do something about all this debt. REALLY. I may even get it started within the next week because this stuff is no joke. It's killing me....

Well, at least my car hasn't been giving me any problems (knock on wood, skip on one foot, throw some salt over the shoulder, and thank God... lol). I'm glad because my mom is taking it within a matter of weeks (yay!). I didn't want to give it to her with problems. Plus, you know, who wants anymore car repair bills. Not me, that's for sure!

Forgot to mention the other thing I did last weekend: The Dark Knight. We saw the midnight show on Thursday. It was also pretty darn good, but I have to admit, seeing Heath Ledger in such an evil role and go to such an evil place, made me upset. I literally cried. I didn't like seeing him like that. I hope his baby girl is able to appreciate the talent that her dad exuded in that role and not the discomfort of seeing him so sinister. He really did an excellant job, it's just sad to remember him that way in his last complete role. =(

Tomorrow is my 27th birthday. Yikes! That's three years from 30 and what is the score so far? Still never had a real boyfriend. Still a virgin. Still in major debt. Still living with a parent. Hmmmm.... Some might say I'm a loser. Funny thing is, and maybe this just means I'm getting better mentally, but I don't feel like that bad of a loser. I do wish I at least had a boyfriend by now. What's the hold up...

I'll let you know how the birthday went. So far, it's been cool. If the only thing I did was Coldplay, I would say it was successful. Mandy has something planned for me, so we'll see how pans out...

My new hero

Meet Midget Mac. He is my new reality TV hero. This guy is the ish! If you don't know him, watch I Love New York 2. Now, I wasn't planning to watch that show because frankly that woman is disgusting, but of course I was flipping through the channels, caught a glimpse of the season opener (as they call it in the biz... lol), and couldn't turn it off. ESPECIALLY when I saw little dude. After that I had to watch to the end to see if he got the boot. Of course, he didn't because they want you to come back and watch to see if he gets kicked off next time and of course, I will. =)
I know it's messed up, but little people are too funny. Especially black, looking-like-a-mini-Master P little people who are fighting normal-sized people for the love of a ghettolicious ho. Hahaha! The best part is when he's going off on Sister Patterson (New York's mom) in the confessional and you can barely see his head at the bottom of the screen. It's obvious that they are trying to make it look like he is so small that he can't even fit into the shot, but it's freakin hilarious! Priceless! Thank you, Midget Mac. You made my day...

Next on the Tyra Banks Show...

Perez Hilton thought this was awesome and I have to agree:

Tyra gives it to Britney for her bad performance and messed up life....

Muahaha! People are just too creative....

"Get the H*** out of my store! Please come again."

I'm sure you guys have heard that a few 7-11 stores across the country have been temporarily turned into Kwiki Marts (from the Simpsons). I know there is one in Burbank and another in L.A. somewhere. I really got to see them before they are gone. Apparently, you have to wait in a long line just to get in. I think it's worth it though.

They have everything from Buzz Cola to Squishies to Krusty-O's. Check out this blog for cool pics...

Words cannot express...

I just got done seeing Transformers. OMG! Best f-in movie ever! I can't even put it into words.

When Optimus Prime first comes out, I almost cried. Especially when I realized that they used the same guy to do the original voice. Freakin awesome!

Go see this movie, people.... specifically those of you - who like me - watched the cartoon as a child. You will feel like you are that age again. I swear to you.

All I can say was it was a non-stop thrill! F-in fantabulous! Whoo!!!!!
