The Miley syndrome...

Parents these days. They should just call them "Those Older Friends I Live With." It seems that so many people in this world are way too worried about their kids liking them and thinking they are "cool" that they forget their duties to protect their children by saying no to things that are harmful to them, even at the risk of their children being "mad" at them. Then they can't understand why their kids don't respect them. Your kids don't respect their other friends, so why should they respect you?

Miley Cyrus is an example of the consequences of being your child's buddy. She has gotten into a lot of trouble lately. First she was posing semi-nude before the age of 18. Now she's been photographed getting high. People want to blame Disney or "the man" or whoever, but I blame the parents.

Guess what! For once, so do the parents. Miley's father, Billy Ray Cyrus, said this in a recent GQ Magazine interview:
"How many interviews did I give and say, 'You know what's important between me and Miley is I try to be a friend to my kids'? I said it a lot. And sometimes I would even read other parents might say, 'You don't need to be a friend, you need to be a parent.' Well, I'm the first guy to say to them right now: You were right. I should have been a better parent. I should have said, 'Enough is enough--it's getting dangerous and somebody's going to get hurt.' I should have, but I didn't. Honestly, I didn't know the ball was out of bounds until it was way up in the stands somewhere."

I'm glad Billy Ray was able to open up his eyes to the truth that at the end of the day, HE is responsible for the way his kids turn out. It's unfortunate that it's too little too late for his daughter and for his marriage... for his family.

But then again, it's NOT too late. With God, it's never too late. He can redeem and restore anything. I pray that Billy Ray will open his heart to the Lord and get on his knees and cry out to the Great Healer right now. Nothing is irreparable with God. NOTHING.

Double Standards

So, I read and heard that Kathy Griffin won a creative arts Emmy a few days ago and decided to say something really offensive about my God. Apparently, she said something along the lines of "So many people get up and thank Jesus when they win this award. Well, this award has nothing to do with Jesus. Jesus can suck it. This award is my god now."

Hmmmm.... Where is the ACLU on this one? If she was saying something like this towards Mohammad or Alah, there would be hell to pay (no pun intended). The whole world would have been breathing down her neck for an apology at the very least, but for Jesus. Eh... he's just the God of those crazy Christians and, sometimes we forget, still the God of THE MAJORITY OF THIS COUNTRY. Why isn't there a bigger uproar about this? I love the double standards here. If she can sit here and insult my God, which in reality she has every right to do, then none of our great Christian leaders should catch any flack for preaching against the dangers of radical Islam, which are a real and ever-present threat. Wake up, people...

Oh Britney...

Unless you've been hiding under a rock somewhere (and mine is the only blog you read), then you probably know by now that Britney Spears' performance at the MTV Video Music Awards completely bombed last night. (Google it... You'll find the video)

Well, of all the headlines about the debacle, this has got to be the best and funniest in my opinion. Muahaha! That chick should have cashed out a long time ago and quit while she was ahead. She is now so far in the hole, I don't think there is any coming back.

Why was I the only person that never thought she had any talent to begin with? I wonder what my old High School friend, Mayra, thinks. She was the first person I know he knew who Britney Spears was. We thought she was funny/weird for being into this little blond pop chick in pigtails and a school uniform who sounded like a sexed-up Shirley Temple... ew....

Nooooooo!

Perez Hilton has been saying that my future husband and Prison Break star, Wentworth Miller, is gay. I didn't want to believe it, despite the fact that Perez is ALWAYS right, but it looks like it's true.

Oh the humanity!

(I'm seriously holding back the tears right now.... What a waste of man!)

Oh what!?!

I cannot believe they let Lindsay off so easy. Paris went to jail for one DUI and driving under a suspended license. This heifer got caugh for TWO DUIs and cocaine possession. That is way worse than Paris, and she is only getting one freakin' day. What the heck? I almost wish Lindsay would have gotten Paris' judge. They should give 'em all Paris' judge. That guy was my hero...

Tidbits...

Okay so I interviewed for the Sec III position the other day and I've decided that I'm 90% sure that I will take it, but I'm still iffy. I just need a little more time to think it over. I think it's just too good an opportunity to pass up, I just need to discuss it with a few more important people in my life because I'm just the kind of person that needs input and feedback. Then I will make my decision. (Sheesh. I wish times were sucky at work right now... it would make it just so much easier to leave...)

What the H is up with Lindsay Lohan. That girl has got some MAD issues. I'm mean deep-rooted, self-destructive, girl-you-need-Jesus issues. My goodness! The girl has gone and got her self arrested for DUI and cocaine possession AGAIN! She just got out of rehab and now she's going right into jail. They need to do her like they did Paris and maybe she'll be scared straight. They need to put her momma in there with her, but not with her like in the same cell, otherwise it would be like they were just out there at the club... haha! Wow, that girl needs extensive help... (check out PerezHilton.com... he has all the juice...)

I can't believe I'm admitting this, but...

I am totally developing a baby crush on Shia LeBeouf. Does that make me a pervert? Haha! The boy is only 21 on top of that I remember when my sisters used to watch him on the Disney Channel (channel of wholesomeness) as a little nerdy 12-year-old little kid on "Even Stevens." I don't know. All I know is that ever since I saw his freakin' kissing skills on Disturbia and then after seeing him in my new favorite movie, Transformers, I'm like falling in love with the little guy. LOL!

Pervert or not, I'd make out with him... Hahaha!

Pig

I knew I didn't like Antonio Villaraigosa and I'm proud to say that I did NOT vote for him. It came out that he had an affair with a news reporter as his marriage was ending. Looks like he's probably been unfaithful long before this though... I just love how he tried to come off like this nice family man on TV. Please!

Side Note: What is with Mexican men named Antonio not being able to be faithful? (My dad is Mexican and his name is Antonio and he was unfaithful... hmmm...)

I never liked him. I have good instincts about people, plus, I usually don't like Mexican politicians because they totally milk the fact that they know that Mexicans will vote for them for the sheer fact that they are Mexican. They never encourage our people to vote their conscience or for the candidates that most go align with what they believe. That crap pisses me off. Who cares that most Mexican politicians are Democrats and are for things that most Mexicans, who are typically Catholic, should be against... Abortion for example. What does that matter, right? As long as the candidate is one of us, we are voting for him. Idiots!

Well, look who you voted for? Someone who has no ethics or morals. Someone who was too cowardly to leave his wife with dignity BEFORE he hopped into the sack with some other young muchacha. Way to go!

Poor Paris...

I don't feel bad that she is going to Jail. She needs to go after all the crap she's pulled, but I did feel bad for her this morning when they showed her crying as she pulled into the jail to turn herself. I'm not going to lie; if I was her I would have been crying too. It was pretty sad. Well, it's only 3 weeks and some change, so I'm sure she'll be fine...

This is funny. I guess Madame Tussaud's in NYC (the same one I visited during my NYC trip back in October) has Paris all fitted out in an old school jailmate outfit... It's pretty goofy looking, but funny nonetheless....

I didn't see her laughing last night on the MTV Movie Awards when Sarah Siverman (who I really can't stand by the way) was saying that they should paint the bars to look like penises so she would feel at home (or something like that). Yeah, Paris really didn't laugh at that joke. But then again, didn't seem like anyone was laughing at any of Sarah's jokes... hmmm... Don't think she'll be back to host again... Actually, maybe she's not to blame; the whole show was pretty lame...

She deserves it!

If they don't make Paris Hilton serve her way-too-low sentance of 45 days, I will personally be out there protesting. That little wench has broken so many traffic laws it's not even funny and she just keeps getting away with it. Looks like it's the end of the line this time. I just hope she doesn't weasle her way out of it. That would be so unfair. So many people get way worse punishments for the things she's done just for their first offenses. She's done this stuff repeatedly and has only gotten little flicks (not even slaps) on the wrist.

I hope she goes and sh**s bricks while she's in there too... Ha!

Then you got Ty Pennington, from Extreme Makeover Home Edition. What the h? Come on Ty! Driving under the influence of alcohol AND drugs. Way to go buddy. Just lost a lot of respect for you.

And don't even get me started on the whole David Hasselhoff drunken video. I know you've seen it. Sad, but funny.... but so sad...
